James Argent heads into a daily rehab unit days after ‘hitting a blip’ in his recovery

Must Try

James Argent was seen entering a daily rehab unit in in Woodford, Essex on Wednesday, days after he was visited by paramedics after ‘hitting a blip’ in his recovery.

The former TOWIE star, 34, flashed a smile as he made his way inside the centre in a bid to tackle his demons alongside his daily life, rather than partake in an extended stay at a residential unit.

James has previously thanked his previous rehab team for their support for his ongoing addiction issues and encouraged others who are struggling to get help.

Speaking in a video in March, he said: ‘Hey guys, I just want to thank each and every single one of you who have shown me nothing but love and support with all your messages over what’s been quite a difficult time for me.

‘I know you’re worried but I can honestly say I feel so much more positive about the future and I feel so much better in myself and that’s because I have had day to day help from Dad in Recovery.’

He went on to say: ‘If you’re indoors at home and seeing this video message, please if you are struggling please do not suffer in silence, please reach out to Nick, Dad in Recovery and the whole team at Verve health and they will help you along your journey just like they’ve done with me.’

He added in his caption: ‘Don’t forget to ask for help, It’s out there. Don’t suffer alone! ❤️ #dadinrecovery #recoveryjourney #getsupport #help4addiction’.

While in January this year, he shared a motivational message encouraging others to seek help and not to suffer in silence.

Alongside a video, he wrote: ‘During the holiday season, Suffering addicts may have found it even more difficult to cope. Which is why it’s important to never suffer in silence. There is so much help out there and you can & will recover.’

James added: ‘However bad things have gotten. Never believe that your past help, there is no such thing. You can get help today!’

James looked on fine form as he showed off his incredible 13 stone weight loss in a grey hoodie and black joggers as he headed inside.

The singer added white and grey trainers and a black cap to his sporty, laidback ensemble, while he also carried a black holdall.

He appeared in good spirits as he casually strolled down the street before turning into the centre, which he voluntarily joined.

MailOnline have contacted James’ representatives for comment.

The TV personality was visited by paramedics last week after concerned friends called an ambulance for him.

The alarm was reportedly raised when the reality star was not answering his phone ‘after hitting a blip in his recovery’.

A source told MailOnline that James is ‘fine’ despite the scare, and did not require hospital treatment.

An insider told The Sun: ‘James has been doing so well, but the drastic change to his lifestyle has had pressures of its own and can be tough.

‘Unfortunately it happened on a day when he was feeling low and an ambulance had to be called.

MailOnline contacted James’ representatives for comment at the time.

In 2019 James was hospitalised twice after overdosing on drugs at his home.

The scare was said to a ‘wake-up call’ to James who then ‘accepted he needs professional help’.

Arg has battled drink and drug addiction since finding fame on TOWIE and in 2014 he was suspended from the show after he failed a routine drugs test.

The TV star spent three months in a facility in Thailand over the festive season in 2016 in order to get the ‘ongoing support’ he needed.

He completed a third stint in treatment in 2020 prior to undergoing gastric bypass surgery.

In January, Arg reflected on his drug recovery as he reached out to any followers who may be struggling.

He shared a video explaining: ‘The festive season can be really hard for struggling addicts. I know because I’ve been there myself. And even to this day, I’m still in regular therapy, counseling, aftercare with the guys at Verve Health. They’ve really helped me.’

He added in the caption: ‘During the holiday season, Suffering addicts may have found it even more difficult to cope. Which is why it’s important to never suffer in silence. There is so much help out there and you can & will recover.

James previously revealed during the height of his past cocaine addiction, he was locking himself in his house, in darkness, for two to three days straight.

The reality star broke down in tears during an appearance on Loose Women as he listened to his mother discuss his past battle and said the best way he can ‘make amends’ is by ‘staying clean and sober’.

James said: ‘I was the biggest I’d ever been, 23 and a half stone, I hated everything about myself, all time low.

‘I remember around that period, I was using drugs for like two or three days straight in my house, I had locked myself in and it was pitch black in the house.’
